The Crown sparks backlash over plans to recreate Diana’s final moments

Royal drama The Crown has drawn criticism after announcing plans to recreate Princess Diana’s final moments in Paris, with crew members fearing “a line has been crossed”.

The show, which stars Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki as Diana, is facing increasing upset over its plotlines and claims of insensitivity in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

Scenes suggesting that Prince Philip had an affair with a female friend are also causing strife for the producers.

But, The Sun reports that scenes focusing on Diana’s ill-fated Paris trip in 1997 and the days and hours before the fatal car crash in the Alma tunnel are being worked on, with a source from the show telling the outlet that some crew members are starting to push back on the show’s ideas.

“To be going back to Paris and turning Diana’s final days and hours into a drama feels very uncomfortable,” the source said.

“Finally, some of the crew members are pushing back on the ideas being tabled.

“The show always tried to present a fictional version of royal history with as much sensitivity as possible.

“But lately, as things get closer to the present day, it feels harder to strike that balance.

“With some of those moments still so fresh and upsetting, it feels as though a line is being crossed.

“Some production staff are now starting to speak up about their feelings.”

A spokesman for Netflix told the outlet that the “exact moment of the crash impact” won’t be recreated or shown.

Meanwhile, sources close to Prince William said they expect him to be angered by the show’s reproduction of his mother’s final days for entertainment purposes

New scenes alleging then-Prince Charles went against his late mother, suggesting she was too old and out of touch, are also facing criticism - but a Crown spokesman defended the controversial scenes as “fictional dramatisation”.

“Series five is a fictional dramatisation, imagining what could have happened behind closed doors.”

Image: @thecrownnetflix (Instagram)

Princess Anne shrugs at the Queen in hilarious clip

Princess Anne has been caught on camera shrugging at Queen Elizabeth II in an apparent ‘snub’ to US president Donald Trump.

In a video filmed at Buckingham Palace’s NATO reception on Tuesday evening, the Queen could be seen shaking hands with Trump and his wife Melania.

The 93-year-old monarch then looked over and noticed her daughter standing nearby. The Queen gestured at her daughter, but the princess shrugged and replied, “It’s just me and this lot.”

According to Britain’s PA Media news agency, Princess Anne was pointing to members of the royal household, including the Deputy Master of the Household, Lt Col Anthony Charles Richards, and William Peel, the Lord Chamberlain.

Social media users believed that the Queen was “scolding” Princess Anne for not greeting the president.

We're all Princess Anne in this video. pic.twitter.com/hlImWTbWCV
— Jono (@jonoread) December 4, 2019

However, the Times journalist Valentine Low said Princess Anne was not snubbing the Trumps.

Low said he found from colleague Laura Elston of the Press Association that the interaction was caused by a mix-up from the Queen.

“Princess Anne: the truth. No, she didn’t snub the Trumps. And she wasn’t told off by the Queen,” Low wrote on Twitter.

“Instead the Queen, after greeting the Donald (and the Melania), turned to Anne to see who was next. But there wasn’t anyone waiting: Trump was the last leader to be received by the Queen.

“Anne raised her hands in the air, laughed and said: ‘It’s just me’, adding a moment later ‘and this lot’ as she pointed to the members of the household behind her.

“So, the truth is now out there. Not that anyone will pay any attention. Anne the Trump Snubber is a much better story.”

So, the truth is now out there. Princess Mary and Prince Frederik blasted over deer hunt pictures

Princess Mary of Denmark and her husband Prince Frederik have been slammed by animal rights activists for their involvement in an annual hunting event that saw dozens of deer killed.

The Danish royal family celebrated the King’s Hunt at Gribskov forest on Wednesday and were then photographed outside the Fredensborg Palace standing before rows of deer carcasses.

Photos from the event show Princess Mary and Prince Frederik smiling and chatting with other people in the crowd in front of the slain deer. Princess Diana’s iconic gown goes on sale

Throughout her lifetime, Princess Diana had been known for her iconic style and fashion-forward looks.

One of such looks was the midnight blue off-shoulder velvet evening gown by Victor Edelstein, which she wore when she danced with Saturday Night Fever actor John Travolta during her visit to a White House state dinner in 1985. The princess’s twirl around the dance floor with Travolta became one of her most memorable moments.

In June 1997, two months before her death, Princess Diana auctioned off many of her dresses including the Edelstein gown. The proceeds from the clothing went to the Royal Marsden Hospital Cancer Fund and the AIDS Crisis Trust.

Now, after numerous changes of hands, the famous dress is once again made available as part of Kerry Taylor Auctions’ upcoming Passion for Fashion auction.

“This is considered one of the most important and iconic gowns ever worn by the princess,” Lucy Bishop of Kerry Taylor Auctions told The Independent.

The online listing reads, “This dress must have been of special significance to the Princess because in 1997 she chose to wear it for her portrait by Lord Snowdon - with the same necklace she had worn twelve years earlier at that infamous event.”

The dress is expected to sell for between £250,000 and £350,000 when the auction takes place in London, December 9.

While it may seem as though the details of the Royal Family’s life is information readily available at the public’s disposal, it can be difficult to really know what goes on behind closed doors.

However, it has become a custom for a former employee or insider to come forward with interesting information we might not have guessed without their stories or experiences.

This has been the case with Queen Elizabeth’s longtime dresser, Angela Kelly, and more recently Lady Anne Glenconner in her new memoir.

Glenconner served as a lady-in-waiting to Princess Margaret for many years and developed a close relationship, she described in Lady in Waiting: My Extraordinary Life in the Shadow of the Crown.

In her own words, Glenconner described personal experiences and interactions she shared serving under and alongside the Royal Family.

In the memoir, the former lady-in-waiting spoke on Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother, who buy her own accounts, “had a slightly strained relationship.”

"Those weekends at Royal Lodge were always fun, despite the bouts of bickering between the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret,” she said, per Express

"One would do things like open all the windows, only for the other to go around shutting them. Or one would suggest an idea and the other would dismiss it immediately."

Glenconner speculated they didn’t get along all the time because they might have been “too similar.”

“...I don’t think it is an unusual predicament for a mother and daughter," she wrote.

Referring to the family’s loss of King George VI, and the “figurative” loss of Queen Elizabeth, who assumed the throne after her father died, Glenconner said: "And while they had been part of a foursome originally, they were left as the spare pair, to a certain extent."

The former royal employee also wrote about a conversation she shared with Princess Margaret.

After noting the royal looked upset at her sister’s coronation, the Princess replied: "Of course I looked sad, Anne.

“I had just lost my beloved father and, really, I had just lost my sister, because she was going to be so busy and had already moved to Buckingham Palace, so it was just me and the Queen Mother."

Scroll through the gallery to see Princess Margaret with the Queen Mother throughout the years of their life.

What Princess Diana kept from Prince Charles when she was pregnant with Harry

A royal biographer has revealed an important detail of Princess Diana’s second pregnancy that she kept from her husband.

Andrew Morton says Princess Diana told him she knew she was having a son, but kept it a secret from Prince Charles.

“I knew Harry was going to be a boy because I saw on the scan,” he claimed she recalled to which she added: "Charles always wanted a girl".

The royal couple welcomed Prince William in 1982, less than a year after getting married.

Princess Diana fell pregnant again with Harry around two years later.

Morton says the royal told him her husband “wanted two children, and he wanted a girl.”

Morton said in his autobiography, Diana: Her True Story - in Her Own Words that the late royal told him that although she was extremely excited when Prince Harry was born in 1984, Charles was “less enthusiastic.”

It is rumoured after their second child was born, he had reportedly said “Oh God, it’s a boy,” then commented on the hair of Prince Harry where he said “and he’s even got red hair.”

Prince Charles had apparently made it extremely clear he was unhappy with having another son instead of a daughter, telling Princess Di’s mother, Frances Kydd: "We were so disappointed — we thought it would be a girl" at Harry’s christening.

According to Morton, in Diana’s own words, her mother had snapped at him.

She allegedly told her son-in-law "You should realise how lucky you are to have a child that's normal".

Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorced in 1996.

In 1997, Princess Di tragically passed away in a car accident.

Scroll through the gallery above to see Prince Harry as a young child.

The BIG way Princess Beatrice is choosing to differ from the rest of royal weddings

The British public won’t have to sweat it when thinking about sporting the wedding bill for the next royal wedding.

A palace spokesperson has told the Express Princess Beatrice and her fiance, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will be privately funding their nuptials in 2020.

It is a move not many royals have done in the past, including Beatrice’s younger sister, Princess Eugenie, who had a massive £2 million cost to the public for security.

Eugenie’s hefty bill did not come without vitriol from the public, with thousands of U.K. citizens signing a petition addressed to the House of Commons, demanding no taxpayer funds be used for the royal ceremonies.

The campaign was started by Republic, an anti-monarchist group.

"Who’s heard of Princess Eugenie anyway?"
